About

Kate Newman is a 35 year old Philadelphia based interdisciplinary artist and writer. Alumni of Los Angeles High School For the Arts in the Visual Arts Department Class of 2004, Kate went on to complete OTIS College of Art and Design’s BFA program in Sculpture and New Genres. Kate utilizes sculpture, painting, video, photography, new technology, older or unusual technological media, and found material in their artwork, installations, and performance. 

Much of their work explores identity, sensuality, sexuality, gender, mythology, film and television fandom subculture, fashion, and queer space and experience. As a Quaker-raised Pacifist their lifelong evolving relationship with fictionalized and consensual violence, intimacy, gender, and understanding attraction are evergreen subjects of creative interest.

They live in Philadelphia with their spouse, three children, and two cats.
